Host Home Testimonies

Recently a group of families in Dallas hosted the His Little Feet children and staff in their homes. Below a couple of the families share about their experience hosting His Little Feet:

“Enthusiasm ruled! No matter what they were doing, the children were excited! And they always thanked God...for food, school, for beautiful days to play outside. Edwin and Tariku speak different languages, yet all little boys can come together through God (and at my house, also through Superman or Tom & Jerry!).  And they were so good with my son, Jackson (16 months).  They were so expressive and excited when they would talk or tell stories that you could see Jackson light up inside.  I believe that these little boys’ point of view and approach to the world is amazing and I hope to instill that in my son.  They weren't stingy, tech-focused, or ‘all about me.’  They were the example of being truly thankful.”

“I was most touched by the spirit of God when Eyob said grace before one of the meals and prayed for our family. Amazing. I think this whole experience has helped our family to slow down a little and savor our simple pleasures, like time together and playing in the backyard. I expect that in the long-term, this experience will leave a lasting impression especially with my younger son, who spent quite a bit of time with the boys and is adopted himself.”

“We didn't really know what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised at our children’s emotional involvement with us and HLF.  They were most respectful and loving.  No morning or evening went without their hugs and ‘thank yous’ for their time with us.”

To all our amazing host homes: thank you so much for giving of your time, homes, and most importantly, love to the His Little Feet choir. We thank God for you!!

Tuck-In Testimony from Auntie Carrie

One night I decided to read the book, The Princess and the Kiss, to Tsion and Mahder. It is a fairy-tale type story about a princess who has a very special gift for her husband - her first kiss.

That night I decided to embrace the opportunity to teach Tsion about God’s desire for His children to live a life of purity. Though Tsion’s understanding of English was limited, she really enjoyed the story. Well, I should say, she enjoyed it until I told her that she is like the princess, and that she has the special gift of her first kiss to give to the husband that God brings into her life.

She told me very adamantly that she was NOT going to get married. I could get married if I wanted to, but SHE was most decidedly never going to have a husband. In her words, “Me no like married!”  This made me laugh, and look forward to the day she will be a beautiful, pure bride.

Tsion and Mahder, both from Ethiopia, have become very special to me and I love them very much.

I love it when they give me hugs so hard I can’t stand up and give me half a dozen kisses on each cheek.

I love listening when they chatter to each other in their own language. I can’t understand a word they are saying, but it makes me smile because they are so thoroughly enjoying each other’s company.

I love cleaning up after them when they get water all over the bathroom floor from showering.

I love hearing them giggle (and believe me, they can giggle!) and laugh in pure-hearted merriment.

I love it when they tease me and make fun of my singing.

I love washing their clothes when they spill spaghetti sauce on their pure white Sunday shirts.

I love it when they do things that try my patience and make me cry out to God for help.

I love listening to them pray for those who have even less than they do.

I love worshipping with them, as they sing with all their hearts on stage, worshipping the God who saved them.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

Just One Weekend with His Little Feet

We were so blessed to have had the opportunity to have His Little Feet come and sing for our congregation.  The children were just precious!

After two nights of housing and the amazing performance, each host family thanked me with tears in their eyes for the opportunity to open their homes to these amazing faith-filled children and chaperones who will inspire you to grow deeper with God.

His Little Feet did more for our orphan ministry in one weekend than we have been able to accomplish in 6 years.

While tucking my youngest son in the first night he said that it was the best day of his life. Even though he is only 9, he was fighting back tears during their incredible performance. The staff at His Little Feet was incredible to work with and we are hopeful they will want to return next year for an even longer performance!

Hahns' Visit to Haiti

Recently Mike and I visited the His Little Feet choir children from Haiti, who returned home to Ouanaminthe, Haiti, in May 2011, after an incredible tour with His Little Feet.  All of the children are doing amazing!  They are home and part of a loving, Christ-centered family environment.  They are all healthy, attending school and church weekly, playing with their friends and participating in sports. They are all growing physically and spiritually.

While in Haiti, Mike and I had a chance to watch the His Little Feet choir children love and care for other orphans and people in need around them…they are truly God’s little rescuers!

They all send their love and greetings to everyone in the States!

Below are pictures from our time in Haiti.
